Kindergarten Screenings will take place at DeSoto Grade School from 11:30 - 3:00 on April 22, 27, and 29. The screenings are for students who will be in kindergarten in the 21-22 school year. They will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. Please call the office to register or for additional questions - 867-2317.

IAR testing for grades 3-8 will begin tomorrow, Wednesday April 7. You can help your child do his or her best on these assessments by: 1) Making sure that your child attends school on the days of testing; 2) Making sure your child gets a good night’s sleep the night before testing; 3) Making sure your child has breakfast on the mornings of testing; 4) Reminding your child to ask the teacher questions if directions are not clear; 5) Letting your child know that you have confidence in his/her ability to do his/her best work; and 6) Advising your child not to worry excessively about the test--just do the best work he/she can. I hope that you will encourage your child to do his/her best on the upcoming assessments.

DGS parents and community members: The DeSoto CCSD #86 Board of Education has partnered with the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) to conduct a superintendent search to replace Mr. Wilson who will be leaving the district at the conclusion of this school year. In order to find the candidate who is the "best fit" for the district, the board is asking parents and community members to complete a survey.
