DGS Alerts: We are unsure of when the power will restore. Ranger Station, track and all other evening activities are cancelled today, April 29.
DGS Alerts: The power and phone lines are down currently. All students are safe, and we are continuing to monitor the weather. We plan to dismiss at 3pm, but as always, you may come pick your children up early.
Yesterday our track team had their regional meet. We wanted to congratulate the following for advancing to the state meet!
JaJaun Bennett: Discus and Shot Put
Kaleb Taylor: Long Jump, Hurdles and High Jump
Sharvez Coleman: 7th Grade 100m and 8th Grade 100m
The boys team placed 4th overall at regionals and the girls team placed 9th overall. Payton and Elaina both placed at regionals as well. Congratulations to all!
It's pie week! Bring in your dollars (or more) to vote for your favorite pie thief! Mr. Corzine, Ms. Taylor and a mystery staff member will get a pie in the face on Friday and you have the chance to be the one to pie them!
Beta Students are taking pre-orders now for Chicken 'n Dumpling Dinner! There will also be a garden sale that day.
New School Record!
Congratulations to Payton Smith for breaking the school record in 800m at last night's track meet with a time of 2:51.73. Keep in mind, Payton is just a 6th grader, so I have a feeling this record won't stand for long. Great job!

Our track team has been off to a great start! We wanted to take a moment to highlight some of the school records that have already been broken this year:
Boys Discus - JaJaun Bennett - 121'8.5" (1st in State-Class S SIJHSAA)
Boys Long Jump - Kaleb Taylor - 16'0" (13th in State-Class S SIJHSAA)
Boys Hurdles - Kaleb Taylor - 16.02
Boys 7th Grade 100m - Sharvez Coleman - 12.04 (1st in State-Class S SIJHSAA)
There have also been lost of personal records from both our boys and girls teams. The hard work is paying off for these kids! Great Job Rangers!

DGS Reminders for this week:
DeSoto Grade School will dismiss at 11:30 on Thursday, April 17 (NO Ranger Station), and there will be no school on Friday, April 18 or Monday, April 21 for Easter Break.
DGS Alerts: Based on updated weather forecasting, DeSoto CCSD 86 will be dismissing at 1:30pm today, Wednesday, April 2. Buses will run at that time. All after school activities are canceled for today. Please stay safe!
Don't forget to join us tomorrow, 4/3, for Family Night! Spaghetti dinner will be available for purchase from 4:30-6pm, and activities will be from 5-6:30pm. We can't wait to see you all there!
As of right now, we will dismiss at regular time tomorrow (Wednesday, April 2). However, Ranger Station will be canceled due to the weather forecast. We will continue to provide updates as needed.
Tomorrow is Spring Picture Day! Beta Club, eighth grade class, volleyball, track and baseball will also take pictures tomorrow. Athletes, please bring your uniforms. Eighth graders, you will need to wear an all black shirt and graduation marshals need to wear an all white shirt for pictures. There will be no retakes.
Our last set of state testing will begin this week. Grades 5, and 8 will take the Illinois Science Assessment. Please remember to be on time to school and do your best! Thank you to all the students who have worked so hard during our testing period.
